Additional Information/Professional Philosophy
I believe that significant changes within oneself are possible, but that deeply held beliefs, behaviours and painful emotions make change difficult, and may even seem hopeless. We have needed to adapt to the needs and expectations of others, but often at the expense of a meaningful life for oneself.
My previous 20 years as a massage therapist highlighted the human need for soothing, relaxation, and connection as I treated stress/distress at the physical level. Lasting change did not seem to occur, so it was a natural progression into Psychotherapy, to further understand the mind/body self and what enables growth in the total self.
In a confidential, therapeutic partnership built on trust and empathy, the disappointments and traumas of one’s life can be uncovered, understood and worked through. This allows one to respond more authentically to others and the world around us.
